It is important to focus on motivation during the interview stages. If we look at motivation letters, it is nowadays very easy for candidates to get the help of for example Chat GPT to make their motivation letters. Some candidates may even ask for help from their friends and/or family to write a motivation letter. It is difficult to assess to what extent the motivation letter contains socially desirable answers leading to biases. During the interview the recruiter is able to ask more in-depth questions on the spot and also focus on the (non-)verbal communication style.
