Blind hiring. It just sounds like you're going to interview your candidates blindfolded. Don't worry, it's not like that. The goal of blind hiring is to make sure you're able to screen and evaluate candidates after the first application without any bias.
Please note: this is an optional feature.
Typical hiring bias
Every human being is biased, so that happens in recruitment as well. In general, these are the aspects that cause most bias when reading a candidate's application:
- Demographics (age, gender, name, ethnicity, etc.)
- Universities/ schools
- Companies you've worked for
We believe that hiring bias based on demographics is the biggest problem now when it comes to wrongly rejecting a good candidate. That's why we offer the feature to mask all demographic information a candidate has shared.
So, basically it's nothing more than just masking all demographic information. We also provide you with the opportunity to decide if you want to mask everything or a selection of the demographics underneath;
- Country of origin
- Date of birth
- Phone number
In our platform, this is how it will look:
Step 1. The first application
After a candidate has finished his/her application, you will receive the matching profile in our dashboard or in your ATS. Here, all information will be showed except for the demographic details. See the example underneath;
Step 2. The next round
If you're enthusiastic about this candidate, you can advance him/her to the next round of your application process. After doing this (note: a candidate will be notified) you will receive all information - including demographics.
So that's how it works. Pretty easy and very effective.
